St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis moves another step forward in its battle against the COVID-19 virus that has decimated economies and killed more than a million people worldwide, when it launches its national vaccination programme on Monday.
Health Minister Akilah Byron- Nisbett offered details of the vaccination plan in a broadcast aired Sunday just after 3 pm.
“To initiate our vaccination rollout and awareness of the campaign, the general public should kindly note that at 1 pm, on Monday 22 February, the ministry of health will launch the national roll-out of its AstraZeneca Oxford Vaccine at the Newtown Health Centre, Ponds Pature St. Kitts, ” the minister said while identifying parliamentarians and frontline workers as the first people in line for the vaccine.
St. Kitts and Nevis has not recorded a death since the coronavirus outbreak and has two active cases of the 41 confirmed cases of COVID-19.
The Commonwealth of Dominica has already donated 2000 Oxford AstraZeneca vaccines to St Kitts and Nevis.
Another 50,000 vaccines are expected in weeks from the COVID-19 Vaccines Global Access facility and other humanitarian donations, the minister confirmed.
