St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Consumers shopping on the two discounted Value Added Tax (VAT) rate days recently announced for Friday 26 and Saturday 27 August may purchase all tangible items that are subject to the 17 percent VAT.
The items eligible must also be available for sale and immediate issuance or delivery to the customer on any of the discounted VAT rate days. Items not eligible for the discount are vehicles, cigarettes, and alcoholic beverages.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Inland Revenue (IRD) Department says businesses desirous of registering for the discounted VAT rate days must ensure that all VAT return filings and or payments are up to date; they have no outstanding taxes, licenses, penalties, and or interest due to the Inland Revenue Department or the Customs and Excise Department.
IRD said a list of businesses participating in the two discounted VAT rate days will be made available beforehand.
