St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – On February 1, images began making the rounds on social media of a man lying motionless in a puddle of blood at a popular local eatery on Cayon Street, Basseterre, around 9 p.m.
The authorities confirmed that the man, now identified as 30-year-old Sylvester Crossley of McKnight, but who resided in Half Way Tree, died as a result of a shooting incident.
According to a statement from the Police, officers responded to a report of the incident at about 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Investigations so far have revealed Crossley, went into a business establishment and, while waiting, he was accosted by a lone, masked gunman who shot him several times about the body then fled the scene.
Additionally, there was a report of a hit-and-run incident sometime after 10 p.m. on the bypass road just off The Cable compound. A video making the rounds showed an unidentified individual lying in the middle of the road.
So far, the police have indicated that the incident was not a hit-and-run, and the pedestrian is being treated at the Joseph N France General Hospital.
