St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): Due to COVID-19 protocols this year’s Carnival /Christmas festivities, that usually begins in November with calypso tents, will offer a mix of virtual and physical activities on a revised schedule.

Chair of the National Carnival Committee Shannon Hawley, a guest on Inside the News on Saturday, explained that some of the activities on last year’s Carnival schedule would be reviewed

She said the public can expect more partnerships with private event promoters and other stakeholders to make the carnival a success. This year will not have the traditional grand parade, jouvert, and pageants. Some organisers had earlier expressed uncertainty about participating this year, Ms. Hawley revealed

This year’s carnival will also feature a virtual DJ competition showcasing music from St. Kitts and Nevis; and, the issue of increasing the popularity of the Federation’s music regionally and internationally is also occupying the attention of the NCC.
