St Kitts and Nevis (WINN): The William Marcus Natta Scholarship Fund is celebrating 12 years. The Fund was designed to encourage, empower and support many young students and their schools in St Kitts by providing “a helping hand along the way.”
Chair and Co-Founder of the William Marcus Natta Scholarship Fund, Dr. Marcus Natta told WINN FM on Friday Morning March 8, ” This year for our 12th anniversary, the William Marcus Natta Memorial Scholarship Fund will be commemorating the anniversary on Sunday with worship at the Zion Moravian Church where we will have some of our past Natta scholars and their parents or guardians with them and following the church service, we intend to do lunch together and just give us an opportunity to catch up with our scholars, since we have been out of touch in terms of in person meetings with them over the past few months. We meet usually virtually.”
Dr. Natta added that the scholarship application is currently open and will close on May 1, 2022. He invited individuals to take advantage of the opportunity.
“We are looking forward to receiving as usual, wonderful applications from the young people at the Tucker Clarke Primary School, as well as the Irishtown Primary School and of course as the years goes on, we will continue to meet with our scholars, as well as, give donations to the two scholarship schools as well.”
According to the Natta Scholarship Fund website, the William Marcus Natta Scholarship Fund was established on April 8 2010 to encourage primary school students in St Kitts and Nevis to strive for academic and civic excellence. The Scholarship Fund focuses on primary education because it aims to foster early love for learning and believes that the earlier a child receives sound schooling, the better prepared that child becomes for the real world.
William Marcus Natta was an accounts clerk, a Trade Union activist, a Sargeant in the St Kitts-Nevis Defence Force and a civil servant for many years. William Marcus Natta passed away on November 4 1992 after battling cancer.
The William Marcus Natta Scholarship Fund committee took the opportunity to express gratitude to all the Fund donors and well wishers for giving a helping hand to the nation’s youth.
