St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): St. Kitts and Nevis Taxi Cooperation reacted negatively to the announcement of the discontinuation of cruises from Florida to St. Kitts.
In an exclusive interview with WINN FM, Sylvester ‘Socrates’ Hodge expressed his disappointment with the course change from the previous expectations.
“When you give false expectations, you run into a problem. A few weeks ago, at a press conference, it was determined that on these days, ships would be coming and having waited for a long time, the anticipation was great. As it now turns out, they have cancelled. There had to be an explanation that may not be appealing to the public, but they need to know.”
The word in everyone’s mouth related to tourism, travel, and the cruise sector is balance.
In this instance, the balance is tipped in favour of health and public safety, as has been the case throughout the Global pandemic.
The government has responded to the plight of some 6,000 people who depend on tourism with stimulus packages, but Minister of Tourism Hon. Lindsay Grant admitted during the press conference that such an approach is not sustainable.
