St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN) – Police are investigating a shooting incident that occurred at Herbert Street, Newtown at 1 a.m. on March 4.
A press release indicated that the shooting occurred at the home of 40-year-old Derrick Williams. Williams, who is a licensed gun holder, told authorities that he left the firearm on the bed and left the room. He then heard when the weapon fired. When he returned to the room he found 26-year-old Shamiqua Cannonier with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Cannonier is warded at the Joseph N France General Hospital, and she is in stable condition. Williams is in police custody and assisting the police with the investigation.
