St. Kitts and Nevis (WINN): World Cancer Day is celebrated on February 4 and is a global uniting initiative led by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). World Cancer Day 2022-2024 is being celebrated under the theme: “Close the Care Gap.”
In commemoration of World Cancer Day, the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation issued a statement via social media calling on all individuals to play their part in the fight against cancer.
“By raising worldwide awareness, improving education and catalysing personal, collective and government action, we are all working together to reimagine a world where millions of preventable cancer deaths are saved and access to life-saving cancer treatment and care is equitable for all – no matter who you are or where you live. This World Cancer Day, we recognise the power of knowledge. We know that every single one of us has the ability to make a difference, large or small, and that together we can make real progress in reducing the global impact of cancer.”
The Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation is calling on each individual to play their part in creating a cancer-free world.
Public Relations Officer of the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Mr. Marcus Natta shared some of the ways that persons can help in that regard.
“We first of all always advocate for a healthy lifestyle and that means incorporating good nutrition with exercise, so we continue to promote the eating of healthy foods, especially local produce which tends to be a lot healthier, as it has not travelled long distances and not been exposed to chemicals or preservatives and these sort of things.”
Natta also encouraged businesses and organisations to reach out to the Essence of Hope Breast Cancer Foundation to host awareness sessions with members of staff about breast cancer and cancer in general.
