(Demerara Waves) – The MV Canawaima ferry will today- Friday- resume operations across the Corentyne River after the ban was lifted by the Maritime Authority of Suriname, government here said.
“Following successful technical inspections and adherence of specific requirements of the Maritime Authority of Suriname (MAS), the ferry service will resume operations as of today, August 28, 2026.
The Guyana government said the service between Guyana and Suriname would continue according to its regular schedule. “The top priority today will be transporting stranded passengers,” the Guyana government said.
